Re: Notre Dame vs. Church
by

While I support your protests 100 percent, I feel, truthfully, it's somewhat futile. Fr. Jenkins hasn't withdrawn his invitation to Pres. Obama to speak or to receive the honorary degree. The media (except for Fox and conservative radio talk shows) have given this little or no coverage except to make fun of us. Pres. Obama will still speak and will receive the honor. I even fear that those who demonstrate peacefully will be arrested because they oppose Obama's disgraceful stance on abortion and embryonic stem cell research. And when the media covers the actual event, they will cover it in any and all ways to make Obama look good and those of us who protest his presence at ND look stupid, backwards, etc. So I ask again, even though I agree 100 percent with you, what good will it do? Will it change Fr. Jenkins' mind? (NO). Will it change Obama's position (No - he still plans to push for FOCA). Yes, we've let our point be known - I signed the online protests - but it'll all fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. Still, I'm glad you peaceful protesters will be out there, I'm proud of all of us who signed the petitions and I'm glad the world knows we care about our unborn babies. If we can't protect the unborn, then who can we protect??? I'll remember "y'all" when I attend Mass Sunday morning.
